Section 2
Section 2 is filed either by the employer or an authorized representative. In Section 2 they are required to:
- Review Section 1 of Form I-9, examine the documents submitted by the Employee and decide if they are genuine.
- Enter the date on which the Employment Authorization is expiring.
- Enter the date the employee began work for pay.
- Enter the business name and physical address.
- Sign and date at all the indicated fields(s).
Supplement B
An employer is only required to fill this part of Form I-9 when:
- An employee is rehired by the employer within three years from the date the employee’s Form I-9 was first completed.
- The employee’s employment authorization or List A or C documents have expired and are required to be re-verified.
- The employee changes their legal name.
