Duplicate Approval Notice Form I-824
When Do I Use Form I-824?
Use Form I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition, to apply for a duplicate approval notice, Form I-797. Form I-824 can be used in a few different circumstances, but duplicate approval notices are the most frequently requested. Keep in mind that you will not receive a replacement EAD (work permit) or green card if you file Form I-824.
Who Is Eligible
If you were ever issued an approval notice from the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) or CBP then you can apply for a duplicate approval notice. This is useful if you are applying for an adjustment of status and you cannot find your original approval notice.You use Form I-824 to get a replacement approval notice, Form I-797. Once you have your approval notice, you can use it to apply for other immigration benefits.
How Long Does it Take? How Much Does it Cost?
The USCIS reports that it takes about three months to process Form I-824. This is according to the USCIS website as of November 2015.
